Alpha Centori Presents Prismatik Drums 1
Boom Bap Drums have always been about one-shots from the vinyl. Whether it's the epic drum break Funky Drummer by James Brown performed by Clyde Stubblefield or The Melvin Bliss standard Synthetic Substitution, the snares, hats, and kicks have been heard in countless classics from Pete Rock, DJ Premier, RZA, Alchemist, Havoc and the list goes on. I strongly believe that those signature drum sounds are part of the Boom Bap sound identity. When you hear that Skull Snaps "It's A New Day" snare it brings back memories of happy events, parties, barbecues and funky freestyle sessions with the homies. So with Prismatik Drums my aim was to deliver these same drum one-shots but with an emphasis on the 70s and 60s sound textures. For example, you will find tape saturation and hiss, vintage tube heat, vinyl crackles, and noise, compression, and vintage gear distortion and much more intricate sonic character. I then created new versions of these original one-shots by layering and gluing these different sounds. The result is fantastic fresh new drums sound but with that same audio vintage stamp. Hall reverbs, echo chambers, plates, lush string room tones, bit crushing, filtering, distortion, eq'ing, compression, space exploration and more have all been used to give new life to these authentic Boom Bap drums. Listen to the demo and judge by yourself. All drums were re-designed, layered and processed by Alpha Centori. This drum kit has more than 350 one-shots including kicks, snares, hi-hats, open hats, loops, bongos, tambourines, drum fills, and sound effects. All files are in universal WAV format at 44.1 Khz and 16 bits resolution.
